Inclement Weather

Weather Closing Policy

If St. Albans is closed, delayed, or switching to online learning because of weather, we will send parents an email and post a notice on the website homepage, usually by 6:00 am. For snow delays and closures, we will also leave a recorded message on the main school line, 202-537-6435, and report to NBC4 (WRC-TV) and WTOP Radio (103.5/103.9/107.7 FM). This decision will be reached after a thorough examination of current and predicted weather conditions, and after consulting with the heads of NCS and Beauvoir.

You may also sign up for text notifications about weather delays and emergencies:
  1. Log in to the website and click on the arrow next to your name.
  2. Select Settings from the drop down menu.
  3. On the menu at left, select Notifications.
  4. If your text number is not listed, add one by clicking on the plus sign. After you add your number and cell phone carrier or provider, a verification code will be sent to your phone. Enter the verification code in the Activate Text Device box and click Save.
  5. Next to Announcement Posted, select Setup Options.
  6. Under General Categories, select Weather Delays, Closings, and Emergency Announcements, and click Save.
  7. Next to Announcement Posted, check the Text and Email.
Note: If St. Albans School is open and operating on a regular schedule, no special announcement will be made, and all students should report to school at the usual time

St. Albans School does not follow the school-closing policies of the District of Columbia.

Emergency Messaging Service

In the case of an extreme emergency, St. Albans School will activate the Blackboard Connect 5 emergency voice mail messaging service. This service allows the school to send telephone messages providing critical information in the case of an emergency to all STA families.

Athletic Schedule Changes

For updated athletic schedule information, including changes, postponements, and cancellations, please check the team's schedule.
Located in Washington D.C.,  St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12.
