Athletic Facilities

When attending athletic events at St. Albans School, please park on the Cathedral Close, or grounds (unrestricted after 3:30 p.m.), or in the Cathedral parking garage, accessible from 3101 Wisconsin Avenue NW.   • Steuart Field

    The upper level multisport field contains a regulation, synthetic grass field for football, soccer, and lacrosse. Seating for six hundred is built into the hillside on the north side of the field, below Beauvoir School, with overflow space on the hillside to accommodate an additional four hundred spectators.
  • Six-Lane Regulation Track

    The six-lane regulation track surrounds Steuart Field and allows St. Albans to host home track and field events.
  • Lower Baseball Field

    The regulation baseball field, which can be converted into two full practice fields during the off-season, includes a synthetic grass surface and seating for 150 spectators.
  • Bulldog Practice Field

    The Bulldog Practice Field provides an additional half-size practice space for all teams.
  • Activities Building

    Located on Garfield Street, this building houses the older of St. Albans School’s two gyms. The Activities Gym, equipped with bleacher seating, is mainly used for wrestling matches, practices, and school functions.  
  • Joseph J. Lawrence Pool

    The Lawrence Pool is an attractive, fully tiled, six-lane, twenty-five yard, indoor facility in a bright and comfortable surrounding.  Pool water and room temperature is maintained at 82°F.
  • Martin Gym

    Named in honor of Canon Charles Martin, Headmaster from 1949 to 1977, this is the newer and larger of St. Albans School’s two gyms. The facility, equiped with bleacher seating, hosts games for basketball, wrestling, and indoor soccer.
  • Tennis Courts

    Seven clay tennis courts are located on the middle and lower tiers, near the intersection of Garfield and 34th Street. A Tennis Center at the courts’ Garfield Street entrance includes dressing rooms, equipment shop, and the Tennis Center office.
  • Other Athletic Facilities

    • Extensive Training room (located on the bottom floor of the Activities Building)
    • Exercise and Weight room (adjacent to the training room)
    • Wrestling room (Activities Building)
