A Conversation with Jasper Boers ’18

Recent Yale alumnus Jasper Boers ’18 joined Dr. Shurmer, Mr. Campbell ’85, and the History Club for a candid conversation via Zoom. As a Schwarzman Scholar, Jasper is currently pursuing a master’s degree in global affairs from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. As leader of Yale’s the largest campus forum for policy discussion, the William F. Buckley Jr. Program, during covid years, Jasper was able to secure high-profile interviews with leaders and pundits, including Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador, and Bari Weiss, the conservative author, writer, and editor who publicly resigned from her position with The New York Times in 2020. He shared his experience studying at a university in China, his love of history, and more about his journey to where he is now with fellow Bulldogs. Said Jasper, “… History gives you so much power to shape the course of conversation if you know something that other people don't.” Enjoy their candid conversation.
