Dragoi Wins Scholastic Art Award
The Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teenagers, announced that Alexandru Dragoi ’26 earned a Gold Key and a Silver Key award for his photography.
Dragoi, who won a Parents’ Association Visual Arts Fellowship to pursue his photography during a family trip to Europe, earned the awards for his images “Peter - the shepherd” and “Bond.”

He joins Teddy Lee ’25 and Henry Terrell ’24, who both entered and won awards for the Scholastic Arts and Writing competition. Lee’s works “Jacket,” “The Arches at Colesville and 2nd,” and “A Fiery Kick” were awarded Silver Key awards, and his piece “Bike Shop” received an Honorable Mention, in the Personal Essay & Memoir category. Terrell was recognized with an honorable mention in Journalism for his article “A Fleeting Culture: The Loss of Maritime Island Communities on the Chesapeake Bay.”
Gold Key-awarded entries are automatically considered for national awards, including Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and scholarship awards.
