A Four-legged Hero Named Stella Visits STA

ServiceDog-Stella-jlr (9)

Stella, a Spinone Italiano dog, has been training intensively for the past two years to be a service dog with Hero Dogs, Inc., a program that trains and places service dogs with veterans and first responders with disabilities. Stella's trainers believe she will work best in an environment where she can support many people rather than working one-on-one with an individual. So as a test of her progress, Stella and Jennifer Lund, the Hero Dogs Program Director, came to St. Albans to meet our community members, tour the campus, and gauge whether Stella might be well-matched to our school. Should the trial run go well, we may see a lot more of Stella!
