Headmaster’s Lecture Series: The Business of Sports

Sports are an integral part of life at St. Albans, promoting teamwork, sacrifice, a desire to excel, and lifelong fitness lessons. Many alumni go on to play sports on the collegiate level, and some even make it to the professional arena, taking with them the core values they learn on our fields.

This year’s Headmaster’s Lecture Series invited four alumni to offer an Upper School assembly talk about their role in the business of sports. Associate Headmaster David Baad ’83, who coached all the returning athletes as Upper School students, served as moderator for the four talks, featuring: Matt Bowman ’09, pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, kicked off the series. Josh Byrnes ’88, vice president of baseball operations for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Marques Mazyck ’03, producer for FOX Sports Florida. Tony Binker ’07, former member of the University of Michigan football staff and now a tight-end and special teams coach at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.
