A First for Choristers and Madrigals

Enjoy the photos.

The Cathedral Boy Choristers and St. Albans Madrigal Singers joined together to sing for the first time ever this week at Evensong. According to Brandon Straub, director of Choral Music at St. Albans and NCS, “Many of the older singers were once Cathedral Choristers, so it was an obvious collaboration. From the moment the Madrigal Singers walked into the Cathedral, there was mutual excitement and fascination between the two groups.” Added Straub, “Several of the Mads recalled memories from their early experiences, and the young chorister singers saw firsthand that opportunities to sing great music continue in the Upper School.” Director of Cathedral Music, Michael McCarthy, said he hopes this is the first of many annual collaborations.
