St. Albans Swim Program

The St. Albans Swim Program has served the Washington community since 1963. Membership includes use of the beautiful indoor Joseph J. Lawrence Pool, located on the St. Albans School campus beside the Washington National Cathedral at 3551 Garfield Street, N.W., near the intersection of Garfield and Massachusetts Avenue.The Lawrence Pool is an attractive, fully-tiled, six-lane, twenty-five yard indoor facility in bright and comfortable surroundings

The St. Albans Swim Club gives members use of the Lawrence Pool during posted hours. Beginning on Friday, August 15, 2025, memberships may be purchased for a 10-visit pass or an entire season, which runs from September 3, 2025 to July 31, 2026. The pool is set up for lap swimming only.

Saturday Lap Swim time will change during the Varsity Swim Season beginning on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Lap Swim time will be from 11:00am - 2:00pm. Normal Saturday lap swim time will return on January 31, 2026. Sunday hours will be unchanged.

*Hours are subject to change due to St. Albans School and/or National Cathedral School classes, and during the Varsity swimming season for team training, swim meets, and/or special events.

The 2025-2026 season will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Summer hours will begin on Monday, June 8, 2026. The final day of the 2025-2026 pool season will be on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Membership

All types of membership are nontransferable, non-assignable, and nonrefundable. Seasonal memberships expire on the date indicated on the membership card. 10-Visit memberships will expire at the end of the calendar year indicated on the membership card, unless otherwise approved by the Director of Aquatics.
 
All members MUST read, agree to, and sign the Liability Waiver at the time of registration.

Pool Policies

For safety reasons, the pool may be closed on snow days, during electrical thunderstorms, or other severe weather. Please visit the school's website, www.stalbansschool.org, to check the status before coming to the pool. If school has delayed opening, then there will be no morning lap swimming. If school is closed, the pool is closed for the day.
  • Priority in the the ladder-assisted lanes (#1 and #6) will be for persons with disabilities and non-swimmers, such as aquajoggers. These swimmers can expect to share a lane with lap swimmers too.
  • All members, and guests, MUST enter and exit the pool facility from the doors at the top of the bleachers.
    Guests must be accompanied by a member. The guest fee is $20 per visit.
  • All swimmers should expect to share a lane at all times, including aquajoggers.
All information on closings and/or cancellations can be found on the STA website (www.stalbansschool.org). Please note that school closings will result in the cancellation of Swim Club hours scheduled for said date. Delayed school openings will result in the cancellation of Swim Club hours scheduled for said date. St. Albans shall have no liability to User in respect of any such cancellation.
