Congratulations to the semifinalists and commended students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. The program recognizes students based on their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The 16,000 semifinalists represent the highest-scoring students from each state and D.C. (fewer than 1% of high school seniors in the country); they have the opportunity to continue in the competition and become eligible for about 6,700 National Merit Scholarships offered in the spring. Commended students scored in the top 2-3% of test-takers nationwide.
