Season of Giving

Thank you for supporting our holiday service projects!

The holiday season is one of giving, and students have been spreading holiday cheer through acts of service!

C Formers gathered in the Cafritz Refectory to make 200 meat and cheese sandwiches for Martha’s Table last week, taking care to make ones that they themselves would like to eat. Teachers Tim Brockway, Lauren Goodyear, and Bharti Vural reminded the boys that their sandwiches are distributed to those struggling with homelessness and living on the streets in downtown D.C., and would be a welcome meal on a cold winter’s night. Many thanks to the Form C parents who helped make this service project possible.

Lower School Toys for Tots
Form B students collected unwrapped toys to donate to the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program. Thanks to the generosity of the Lower School community, STA was able to share three donation boxes of toys for children in need.

Upper School Toy Drive
The Upper School also collected unwrapped toys for Kid Power, a nonprofit organization that provides after-school programming and enrichment opportunities to elementary school students.

BWS K.I.N.G.S. Food Drive Donation
Head Football Coach Orion Martin helped coordinate a donation of food to the Bishop Walker School’s K.I.N.G.S. Giving Food Drive, which was shared with 300 residents of Sheridan Station in Southeast D.C.

NCS-STA-SocialService-RSam-001
More than 30 Upper School STA and NCS students participated in a coordinate service project packing more than 100 snack bags, 200 sandwiches, and 100 toiletry kits that supported Martha’s Table, Thrive DC, and Shepherd’s Table.
