EdTech Experience at the KID Museum

This month, the B-Form boys continued expanding their EdTech experience through hands-on maker learning, highlighted by our annual visit to the KID Museum. The trip gave them access to tools and technologies that stretch beyond what we can typically or safely offer in the classroom: drill presses, sewing machines, hand tools, saws, and more. For many, this was their first time working with professional-grade equipment. The boys’ curiosity translated to focus, collaboration, and pride in creating something from start to finish.

The boys designed and built wooden arcade-style games, Plinko boards, Skee-Ball ramps, soccer challenges, basketball shots, and other original works. They also learned to use sewing machines to produce eyeglass cases, wallets, pillows, and more, pairing machine work with careful hand stitching for precision.

The experience allowed us to extend our curriculum in meaningful ways, encouraging the boys to think creatively, solve problems, and gain confidence working with tools and materials. We are grateful for such opportunities that challenge the boys to build, test, iterate, and discover their creativity and capabilities.

Thank you to the Parents’ Association for the faculty grant that supported this project.

Located in Washington D.C., St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
