STA’s historic 2025 Homecoming was a weekend to remember. Under a beautifully sunny fall sky, alumni returned from all over to reconnect and relax at the festivities on the Close. The day started with the Homecoming Barbecue in Grant Meadow, with a special honoring and 90th birthday celebration for the meadow’s name-sake, legendary STA coach, teacher, athletic director, mentor, and director of the program that now bears his name, Skip Grant. At the conclusion of the barbeque, the football team was led by bagpipe to the field for warm-ups and the opening coin toss. Before kickoff, seniors, players, and managers on the football team were honored on Steuart Field with their families for Senior Day.
After a commanding half of football punctuated by cheers and song from the kilt-clad BEEF section, Headmaster Jason Robinson, Alumni Board President Thomas Duckenfield ’82 III, and many other STA alumni and friends took to center field for the inaugural induction of the Altis Society, St. Albans’ new Athletics Hall of Fame. Coach Grant was named the society’s first inductee while Headmaster Robinson presented him with his plaque.
Following the ceremony, the Bulldogs capped off an impressive weekend of performances by all of the fall sports teams with a dominant 42-0 victory. Thank you to the hundreds of guests, fans, students, alum, and family who made this weekend such a success.
