Director's Corner

February 2018
The success of Headmaster Wilson’s thank-you tour last October in Boston and last month in Florida has directed us to seek additional opportunities to bring him closer to our alumni and friends beyond the Washington, DC area. As such, we are taking the show on the road for the second week in March to the West CoastThe Headmaster will kick things off with an evening reception -- co-hosted by John Siegler ’73 and Jairus Stratton ’71 -- in Seattle on Monday, March 12. On Wednesday, March 14, a luncheon in Palo Alto will precede an evening reception in San Francisco, co-hosted Richard Chow ’79. Finally, Kathy and Brent Taylor ’65 will co-host a reception Thursday evening (the 15th) at their Manhattan Beach home west of Los Angeles. Details on all these events may be found below. We are grateful to our co-hosts for their help in coordinating and organizing this whirlwind tour. It is our hope that these mini-reunions will lure members of the St. Albans family away from their offices and everyday lives to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Bulldogs, get a sense of where St. Albans is today, and (re)connect with Albanians in their region. Please join us!

(Mark your calendars for the last “roadshow event” in New York on April 24; the Service of Celebration for Vance will be May 17, here on the Close!)

In addition to all this activity, we anticipate the 93rd Annual Alumni Association Meeting and Dinner on March 7 will be among our best in terms of both program and attendance: Headmaster Wilson will be feted as an Honorary Alumnus at this, his last supper in the role. (This evening has come to be known as the Alumni Association’s signature event, and with good reason: as the largest annual alumni gathering held at the School, it represents an opportunity for alumni of all ages to reunite at the School to celebrate our connections and honor our traditions. As in years past, alumni spanning seven decades will fill the Ellison Library and Cafritz Refectory in joyous reunion. If you’ve never been, and are in the area, I encourage you to come and join in the festivity; as an added incentive, note that the BOLD classes – those Bulldogs of the Last Decade, alumni of the last ten years – are offered the evening’s events at a discounted rate.)

I hope to see you many of you then!
