On a crisp, gray, and overcast morning, Lower School students, staff, and families gathered for the 114th Annual Lower School Blue-White Field Day on Steuart Field. The boys competed in dash races, three-legged races, football and hurdle relays, 400-meter and quarter-mile relays, the long jump, baseball throws, and games of tug-of-war. Parents then took the field, along with some faculty and friends, to join the boys for a special heat of the three-legged race, an annual spectator favorite. The heats were close, but more importantly, no injuries to the more seasoned competitors were reported.
Individual students and teams were then honored for their performances after lunch in the amphitheater. Finally, the final score was tabulated and the winning team was announced. The White team pulled out a victory over the Blue team for their first win in several years. Both teams’ captains gave speeches to the competitors and spectators, thanking them for their supports and offering congratulations to the day’s champions. Another great showing by both teams.
