Cup-stacking Challenge

Incoming Form I math teacher Bridget Corrigan’s classes eagerly and noisily - and then very carefully (“Don’t touch the table!!”) - participated in a cup-stacking challenge she devised to teach students critical thinking, problem solving, team building, and communicating.  The boys worked in small groups to build pyramids of plastic cups without touching the cups with their hands or any other body part. Instead, the teams had pieces of string and one rubber band to pick up and place the cups. After a short practice round, the students competed to see which group could build the tallest pyramid in 15 minutes and then reflected on what they had learned. Enjoy the photos and video below.
