All Rise

The Hon. Jeb Boasberg ’81 of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia returned to STA for a Remote-Plus session with Form VI this week. Judge Boasberg discussed the intricacies of the Supreme Court confirmation process and discussed the role of the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, of which he is the presiding judge. Additionally, in a series of hypotheticals presented by Judge Boasberg, students considered all the factors judges must consider in order to decide sentences for defendants.

Prior to going on the bench, Judge Boasberg was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for 5.5 years, where he prosecuted a variety of criminal offenses and specialized in homicide cases. Before becoming a prosecutor, Judge Boasberg was an associate at the law firms of Keker & Van Nest in San Francisco and Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd & Evans in Washington. In addition to his professional duties, Judge Boasberg has been an avid alumni volunteer at St. Albans, serving as the Vice President of the Parents Association’ and Chair of the St. Albans Governing Board.
