March Mammal Madness

It’s March, which means Lower Schoolers in Mr. Miller’s CBA science classes are filling out their brackets for March Mammal Madness — an NCAA-bracket-inspired competition created by Arizona State University professor Katie Hinde in which animals are paired against each other and students speculate which would succeed and/or survive better in a specific environment. Students research the animals, their capabilities, and their habitats; share their research with each other; and then choose the likely winners. The matches occur throughout March, with the results — decided by the team of scientists who organize the competition —announced via Twitter @2021MMMletsgo on the evening of the battles, and video roundups are posted the following morning on the YouTube Channel Rodent Roundtable.
