Dave Baad ’83 to Head Episcopal School of Dallas

We are pleased to report that David L. Baad ’83 has been named the next head of the Episcopal School of Dallas, starting in July 2018. In a letter to the Dallas school community, ESD Board Chair Emeritus Laura Boeckman and Board Chair Don Carty wrote:

“The Search Committee immediately recognized that Dave not only respects the best of an Episcopal school education but also models those traits. The Faculty and Staff Advisory Council concurred, offering statements in their anonymous feedback survey including, ‘He understands and believes in the mission of the school. He recognizes that growth, not change, is the goal. He believes that growth is a result of consensus work from the ground up and that as a head of school, he can and should remain connected to the students in the classroom and on the field. His belief in an education that reflects the values of the Episcopal identity is in line with our tenets and strikes the right balance.’”

Mr. Baad began working at St. Albans in 1987. Since then he has taught in both the Upper and Lower School; coached football, basketball, wrestling, and baseball; served as head baseball coach and athletic director; and held the position of associate headmaster, filling in as headmaster twice while Mr. Wilson was on leave. In a letter to the St. Albans community, Headmaster Wilson noted: “With each new report he has agreed to more work and responsibility with grace and diligence and good humor. When I was given a sabbatical and when I had to take a medical leave, without a doubt I recommended to the board that David run the school. He did so brilliantly, each time.”

We wish David and his wife, Hafida, happiness and success in Dallas.
