As we wrap up October, let’s check in on how our fall athletics teams are performing heading into the conference season and tournament.
Soccer: 11-1-2, Regular season IAC Champions
Behind outstanding defense that has only allowed two goals in 9 conference games thus far, St. Albans secured its fourth consecutive regular season IAC title. The soccer team was most recently ranked #4 in the DC area by the Washington Post. The Bulldogs take on the Bears of Landon this Friday on Steuart Field at 4:00 pm.
Football: 3-3, 1-1 in IAC
Despite a few heartbreaking losses, including dropping two competitive and close games at the beginning of the season, St. Albans football still holds a .500 record as it heads down the stretch of the season. Running a dynamic offense with effective running and passing games, the football team has found itself competing consistently deep into games. The squad squares off with St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes this Saturday at 2:00 pm at home.
Cross-Country:
Following what Coach Jim Ehrenhaft ’83 has declared the most successful race in school history at the Milestat Invitational, St. Albans cross-country continued to dominate at the Skip Grant invitational, claiming the top two finishes and four of the top seven spots. With the regular season complete, all that awaits the Bulldogs are two championship races: the IAC and the DCSAA. This weekend, the team travels to Derwood, Md., and beautiful Maryland Agricultural Farm Park to compete for its 14th-consecutive IAC title at 12:15 pm.
