Mr. Chandler Aces Name Game

Since 1931, when Lower School Head Alfred True attempted to achieve the feat, St. Albans Lower School Heads have committed to learning the names of every boy.

Mr. Chandler has continued the tradition. Every morning, in front of the True Lucas building, he greets students by name with a firm handshake, a smile, and a well wish for the day.

This year he had 266 students to get to know. He decided to put his knowledge to the test just 15 days into the school year, putting his trademark wager of a $1 gold coin for every name he misremembers.

As you’ll see in the video below, he never had to reach into his wallet. Mr. Chandler did not miss a single name.

Located in Washington D.C.,  St. Albans School is a private, all boys day and boarding school. For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
