Exploring Graphic Novels with Visiting Author Nathan Hale

Cartoonist, author, and illustrator Nathan Hale joined the Lower School community as the visiting author this spring. His graphic novels, always favorites on Lower School summer reading lists, cover a number of genres, including American history, science-fiction, and fantasy. In an interactive presentation, Hale doodled his way through a sneak peek at upcoming projects, an explanation of cartoon language, and a historical lesson on the 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield. Following his presentation, Hale met with various forms for a comic workshop. He walked students through a simple story board created from two characters and let their imaginations run wild for the story they wanted to tell. He wrapped his day signing copies of his books for our curious readers. Enjoy the video and photos from his visit.
