The Chemistry of the Heart

The Chemistry Club recently met to make hearts for their Valentines. Mixing 5 mL of a polyether polyol and diisocyanate created a chemical reaction to form a polyurethane foam. Students then added the food coloring of their choice and molded the compound into hearts (and a few other shapes). Enjoy the photos from this love-filled lab.
