Shaking it Up!

Form A students recently built balsa wood towers in Mr. Miller’s science class to see which one would last the longest on a simulated earthquake shake table. Each group’s tower experienced the same earthquake, with the frequency steadily increasing over time. In addition to building the towers, students learned about the science behind earthquakes and focused specifically on the August 2011 earthquake that shook the D.C. area and damaged the Washington National Cathedral. Enjoy video and photos from the project!
