Ventoux: New STA History Journal
The Upper School initiated an honors history program this year, and faculty members Robert Shurmer, John Campbell ’85, and Ben Labaree have created a new STA history journal featuring some of the students' work. The journal bears the title Ventoux, for the mountain the Renaissance humanist Petrach climbed to “see what so great an elevation had to offer.”
Campbell writes in the introduction to this inaugural edition of Ventoux: “The St. Albans honors history thesis students embarked on their scholarship this year with both an inward and an outward eye. Honing their critical thinking and research skills, they explored a variety of sources to come to a better understanding of the world around them. It was hard work but worth the effort. Their theses are a testament to the studia humanitatis, a course of study alive and well on top of Mount St. Alban.” Click here to read Ventoux.
