Exploring Seed Dispersal

Exploring Seed Dispersal

Form B continued their study of plants with an origami seed dispersal activity during their Remote-Plus time on campus. The purpose of the activity was to demonstrate to the students that some plants produce millions of seeds in hopes that a few will land in a location that will allow them to grow into a new plant. Each student folded and labeled four origami seeds that were replicas of maple helicopter seeds. Mr. Miller took the bucket of seeds to the Frist Terrace (rooftop) of Marriott Hall and launched them over the edge. If any of the seeds landed inside the hula hoop below they were deemed a survivor and would grow into a new plant. The first attempt had no seeds survive but on a second drop, nine seeds out of the 200 created lived. Another successful day in CBA Science!

Behind My Mask

Behind My Mask

Form B students recently read “Detras de mi cubrebocas” (Behind my mask), a bilingual book encouraging children to wear masks, in Spanish class. Today in their Remote Plus session with Ms. Blanford, they drew portraits of themselves behind decorative masks.
