Celebrating Holi: The Festival of Colors
On March 8, the school community celebrated Holi, a Hindu and cultural tradition in South Asia and throughout the Indian diaspora, celebrating the arrival of spring, the spring harvest season, and the reconciliation of broken relationships. Often referred to as the Festival of Colors, the Festival of Spring, and the Festival of Love, during Holi, friends, families, and strangers gather to throw “gulal,” a powdered paint, which represents all the bright colors that the spring season brings.
Lower School Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Affinity Group members from NCS and STA, as well as Upper School students were able to experience the exuberance of the celebration on Grant Meadow. Additional members of the Lower School community celebrated by wearing the bright colors of spring instead. Enjoy the photos and video from the celebration!
