Visiting Artist: Emily Brown

Visiting Artist: Emily Brown

The Art Department welcomed Philadelphia artist Emily Brown to talk with students about her artwork, which will be on display in the Steuart Building Gallery through December 20. She talked with students about her inspirations and her process for drawing on such a large scale, and she emphasized importance of getting the feeling of a place. Ms. Brown is best known for her large scale ink wash drawings of the places she visits in New England. The exhibition of her artwork also includes several small paintings, etchings, and pencil drawings, which she rarely has a chance to show.

For more than a century, St. Albans has offered a distinctive educational experience for young men in grades 4 through 12. While our students reach exceptional academic goals and exhibit first-rate athletic and artistic achievements, as an Episcopal school we place equal emphasis upon moral and spiritual education.
