“Welcome to our ‘frozen’ Hymn Sing!”

‘Frozen’ Hymn Sing
“Welcome to our ‘frozen’ Hymn Sing!” the Rev. Leslie Chadwick greeted the entire Lower School in front of the Lane-Johnston Building for an outdoor chapel with hymn singing—something they haven’t been able to do inside because of COVID. The Rev. Chadwick told those gathered: “St. Augustine said, ‘He who sings prays twice.’” She added, “I wonder if he who sings in 30-degree weather prays exponentially? We will find out.” She asked the boys to come close together and sing with all their hearts. Among the favorite hymns sung were “When Israel Was in Egypt’s Land” (“Go Down, Moses”), “Standin’ in the Need of Prayer,” “Morning Has Broken,” and “We Are Marching in the Light of God.” The service concluded with an especially apt singing “Let us go, let us go, in peace to serve the Lord,’ to the tune of “Let It Go” from the Disney classic Frozen.
