Khanna Yamamoto ’19 Named Presidential Scholar

The U.S. Department of Education has named Shiva Khanna Yamamoto ’19 a Presidential Scholar, one of the nation’s highest honors for graduating high school students. Each year 161 students are named Presidential Scholars, including one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and U.S. families living abroad, as well as 15 chosen at-large, 20 scholars in the arts and 20 scholars in career and technical education. We are excited to report that Maggie Wang ’19 (NCS) joins Shiva this year as a Presidential Scholar from D.C. Congratulations to Maggie and Shiva!

The Commission on Presidential Scholars evaluates students’ based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.
