Hart Roper to Head Oak Hill School

Congratulations to St. Albans’ former Admissions Director Hart Roper, who will become head of Oak Hill School, an independent school for boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 6, in Nashville, Tenn., in July 2018.

In a letter to the Oak Hill community, the school’s Board Chair Les Coble and Search Committee Chair David Corts noted: “The Search Committee reached a clear and unanimous decision that the breadth of Hart’s experience, especially with regard to finance, admissions, and strategic planning; his humble and empathic style; and most importantly, his expression of his deep faith create an ideal fit for the role of the next Head of School at Oak Hill.”

A graduate of Davidson College, Mr. Roper received an M.A. in educational leadership from the Klingenstein Institute at Columbia University. During his fourteen-year tenure at St. Albans, Mr. Roper taught in the lower school, coached varsity soccer, worked as Lower School dean of students, and served as director of admissions and financial aid. In 2015, the Ropers moved from Washington to Nashville, where Mr. Roper became director of major gifts and special projects, and later director of strategic initiatives and associate director of development, at Montgomery Bell Academy.

We wish the entire Roper family, including Hart’s wife, Colleen, and their children, Mary, Sarah, Thomas, and Daniel, joy and success as they join a new school community.
