Spring is in the Air and Music

Enjoy the photos and videos from the Chorale & Orchestra Sprink Break trip!

Over the first four days of spring break, a group of 90 student musicians and chaperones from NCS and STA traveled to New York, Philadelphia, and Princeton as part of the 2017 Spring Chorale & Orchestra Trip.

During the trip, the ensemble led services of choral evensong at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City and St. Mark's Church in Philadelphia and performed an informal concert in the Princeton University Chapel. In addition to the performances, students enjoyed several group meals, attended Broadway shows, visited Columbia University, explored Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, and toured the Steinway Piano Factory. Students and faculty were also able to connect with various NCS-STA alumni/ae along the way, especially at the receptions following the services in New York and Philadelphia.

This year's trip was the first time that members of the orchestra had traveled with the Chorale. With Director of Choral Music Brandon Straub's background as a singer and pianist, inviting Scott Wood and the members of the Orchestra (many of whom sing in Chorale, as well) to join the trip seemed like an obvious choice.

Enjoy the photos and videos of the students' glorious performances of "Hail, gladdening light" and "Magnificat" from St. John the Divine in NYC!
