On February 24, Upper School creative writing students paid a visit to the Form B Poetry Café to share what they’ve learned (so far) about crafting powerful poems. The Upper School students teamed up to design engaging lessons that challenged their younger colleagues to think about the effects of sound, concrete details, active verbs, and figurative language in poetry. Using their own poems as examples, the Upper Schoolers guided the B Formers to identify where and why the poems worked and to apply those realizations to crafting poems of their own. The theme of the day: the nitty-gritty choices of poets are actually really fun to think about. Enjoy the photos!
