Office Attendant (St. Albans Tennis Club)

St. Albans School of Washington, DC, is seeking an Office Attendant for the St. Albans Tennis Club.

Reports to: Director of Tennis Club

Duties:
Standard Clerical/Hospitality/Administrative Functions:
  • Provide assistance to, interact with, and offer information to members and other parties who visit the club. Duties include Includes court sign-in, lesson sign-up, membership inquiries and processing, and event registration.
  • Receive and respond to phone and email inquiries.
  • Address issues that may arise on the courts only if a member, coach, or patron requests assistance (unless a situation is observed that needs an immediate response).
  • Handle transactions related to club and Director monies (i.e., guest fees, pro shop purchases, lesson payments, etc.). Duties include Includes proper documentation of these transactions (i.e., retail/accounting software, physical ledger, etc.).
  • Restock inventory when necessary. Inform management of low stock items.
  • Monitor the weather reports for the area, and inform patrons and other club staff if weather poses any threat. May include updating club voicemail, posting notices at entrywaysentry ways, and denying access to the courts/club until clean-up or safety issues have been addressed.
  • Update the club voicemail box to note changes in hours, weather notices, other quick announcements, etc.
  • Morning: make sure adequate funds are available in the cash register.
  • Monitor security cameras for any safety issues/other concerns. Ensure they are positioned and functioning properly.
  • Do walk-throughs of the club, specifically courtside, to observe if there are any problems, items left behind by members, or simply to have a first-person visual that all is well.
  • Make note of any problems with the courts, including equipment. If a situation calls for it, make direct and immediate contact with fellow workers and management, as certain issues may cause delays in club operations.
  • Evening Specific:
    a) Ensure all monies and pro shop items are put away before leaving.
    b) Make sure office lights and/or other equipment/appliances are turned off.
    c) Ensure no one is loitering in the restrooms, on the courts, or in spectator seating.
    d) Check that the golf cart is stored and charging properly.
    e) Check that all appropriate gates and doors are locked.
  • Provide other assistance to coaches or maintenance staff, as necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Tennis Club Director or Assistant Director.
