Application Checklist

  • Schedule Family Tour (Optional)

    Family tours for fourth and fifth grade applicants will be available on select days from mid-October to early February. Tours begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. and conclude at 9:45 a.m. During these visits for rising fourth and fifth graders, applicants and their parents will tour the School with members of the Admissions Office and have the opportunity to learn more about the academic, athletic, and artistic programs that St. Albans offers. After September 12, families may register for a campus tour through our application portal, RavennaFamilies may also click here to take a virtual tour of campus.
  • Complete and submit application form

    All applicants are encouraged to apply online through our application vendor, Ravenna. All applications must be submitted, along with the $80 application fee ($120 for international applicants), by January 3, 2023. If the application fee poses a financial challenge, please contact the Admissions Office for a waiver code. To create an admissions account or log in to an existing account, please click here.
  • Complete and submit parent statement (optional)

    Parents have the opportunity to submit an optional parent statement in Ravenna. This application step, though in no way required, will be especially helpful for St. Albans to get to know your family better. Optional parent statements are due by January 11, 2023.
  • Student Writing Sample

    Applicants to grades 4-5 are required to submit a four to six sentence response to a writing prompt in Ravenna. Student writing samples are due by January 11, 2023.
  • Submit school transcripts and teacher recommendations

    By early January, parents should submit a Transcript Request form (accessible in Ravenna) for academic records from the current year (first and second quarter) and previous school year to their son’s head of school or registrar. Also by early January, parents should submit, again through their Ravenna account, the two Teacher Recommendation forms to two homeroom teachers who have taught the applicant during the current and past year. An applicant’s transcript and teacher recommendations must be received by the Admissions Office no later than January 11, 2023.
  • Complete admissions testing

    Required admissions testing for applicants to grades four and five will occur on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Testing day logistics and confirmation of this date will be sent to applicants in early January.  Families who have submitted an application form by the January 3 deadline will be automatically registered for the testing day.
  • Decision Notification

    All application files are presented to the Admissions Committee in early February, and decision letters will be available in each applicant's Ravenna account on March 3, 2023. An applicant will be advised one of the following: that he is being offered a spot, that he has been placed on a waiting list, or that we are unable to offer him a spot. If an applicant accepts an offer of admission, his parents must return the signed Reservation Contract by March 17. The School will make every effort to make financial aid awards simultaneously with offers of admission.
