Meet the New Head of Lower School Fredric Chandler

Headmaster Vance Wilson named former Lower School teacher, coach, and dean Fredric Chandler as the new Lower School head, succeeding Paul Herman.

We are deeply fortunate to welcome him back,”  Headmaster Wilson wrote in a letter announcing Chandler’s appointment. Chandler, who taught at St. Albans from 1996 to 2007, is currently associate head for academics at St. Anne’s-Belfield School, in Charlottesville, Va.

I’m so excited to be joining the Bulldogs this summer!” says Chandler. “Paul Herman has been a wise and magnanimous mentor not just to the boys and faculty, but to me; I’ve leaned on his example many times in my work in Charlottesville. I’m eager to return to the Close, to meet new boys, families, and faculty, to reacquaint myself with old friends, and—especially—to cultivate the hallmark warmth and excellence of St. Albans’ Lower School.”
