All applications are due to St. Albans no later than January 6, 2017. St. Albans encourages families to apply online, which will expedite the application process, ensure accuracy, and allow you to conveniently check your son’s application status. All applications must be submitted, along with the $80 application fee, by January 6, 2017. Applications made online must pay the application fee via credit card, while hard-copy applications must include a check payable to St. Albans School. • Complete and submit personal statement

For students applying to grades 9 through 11, a typed personal statement, composed solely by the applicant, is due January 6, 2017. The applicant will be asked to answer two separate questions. No outside source should be used to complete the personal statement. Personal statements should be uploaded through your online admissions account (PDF format only) by January 6, 2017. You may download and print the personal statement from the application forms page.
  • Submit school transcripts and teacher recommendations

By early January, parents should submit a Transcript Request form for academic records from the current year (first and second quarter) and previous school year to their son’s head of school or registrar. Also by early January, parents should submit the two Teacher Recommendation forms to their son’s current math and English teachers. Families may send a request for recommendation to teachers through their son’s online account. Families are strongly encouraged to request that teachers use the online tool for submitting recommendation forms, as this ensures accuracy and timeliness of submission. If preferred, teachers may mail or fax a paper recommendation to the Admissions Office. An applicant’s transcript and teacher recommendations must be received by the Admissions Office no later than January 18, 2017. The School Transcript Request form is available on the application forms page.
  • Complete admissions testing

For applicants in grades 9 through 11, students must submit scores for either the SSAT or ISEE by January 18, 2017. Either test is acceptable. Students should register for either test in the fall; the test must be taken by early January for the Admissions Office to receive it by the January 18 deadline. For registration information for the SSAT, visit www.ssat.org or call (609) 683-4440. St. Albans' SSAT school code is 6256. For registration information for the ISEE, visit www.erblearn.org or call 1-800-446-0320. St. Albans’ ISEE school code is 090165. St. Albans will be a closed test site for the ISEE on January 7, 2017. Limited fee waivers are available for both tests. Applicants for whom English is not a native language are strongly encouraged to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam along with either ISEE or SSAT scores. Visit www.ets.org/toefl/ for details.
  • Decisions mailed

All application files are presented to the Admissions Committee in early February. Decision letters will be mailed on March 3, 2017. An applicant will be advised one of the following: that he is being offered a spot, that he has been placed on a waiting list, or that we are unable to offer him a spot. If an applicant accepts an offer of admission, his parents must return the signed Reservation Contract by March 20, 2017 along with a non-refundable check or money order for $1,000 to secure placement. Applicants receiving financial aid should make a deposit commensurate to their percentage of aid. The School will make every effort to make financial aid awards simultaneously with offers of admission.
