A Giant Leap for Students & Teachers: Thank You!

The goals for 2016 Leap Year Challenge were simple (29 days + 290 donors = $29,000), but for a moment, it seemed like victory might elude us. On Leap Day, February 29, our progress meter read 257 donors, 33 shy of our mark. Final calls for support went out and the overwhelming response quickly erased any doubt. The mighty Bulldogs of St. Albans were going to win the day.

Hundreds of generous Albanians, from around the world, rallied to earn every dollar of the $29,000 challenge pool. In all, 474 donors contributed a total of $258,932 and made our second Leap Year Challenge a smashing success. The outpouring of gifts from parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends is an impressive demonstration of the power of many donors coming together in support of Annual Giving.

To all who participated by giving, by urging others to give, and by cheering this extraordinary effort as it unfolded, thank you! The effect of volunteer enthusiasm and encouragement on our final result cannot be overstated. We are also grateful for the leadership of our Governing Board challenger, whose generous incentive provided the foundation for our success.

While the Leap Year offered a chance to inject some fun into AG, the challenge’s ultimate aims were to raise essential resources for faculty and students. They are the ones who benefit immediately from every dollar contributed. And thanks to the many dedicated members of our School family who answered the call for support, our community, and the distinctive experience of a St. Albans’ education, is stronger than ever.

The success of February’s challenge puts our 2015-16 goals within sight, but we’re not there yet. June 30, 2016 is the final AG deadline. As ever, achieving our budgeted dollar and participation objectives hinges on broad support from across our community. Every gift, regardless of size, is meaningful and appreciated. If you have yet to contribute, please consider doing so today by visiting www.stalbansschool.org/onlinegiving. Thank you!
