Special Events Manager
The Special Events Manager is responsible for all development, alumni, and many School-wide events. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, the Special Events Manager works with the Associate Headmaster for Development and the Development Directors, as well as the Headmaster, Division Heads, Chaplains, alumni, and parent volunteers on both recurring and newly conceived events. Provides general administrative support to the Development Office. This is a twelve month regular full-time position.
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum three years professional event experience; experience in supporting program, conference and event planning. Knowledge and understanding of meeting and event planning principles, requirements, procedures, and available resources. Self-motivated with ability to work independently; ability to organize resources and establish priorities. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Experience with the Raisers Edge 7 software or event planning software. Ability to work as part of a team to support department goals. Outstanding organization skills, including scheduling, promoting and arranging; budgeting experience desirable. Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, Internet research, E-mail and file management (prefer Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to occasionally work outside the normal schedule to accommodate and support the office including early morning meetings, evening engagements, and occasional weekend obligations. Occasional travel required. Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and accuracy.
