On Wednesday, January 18, St. Albans alum John C. White '94 was appointed Louisiana's new Superintendent of Schools by Governor Bobby Jindal, and approved by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

According to the Times-Picayune news story, "White's appointment has been widely anticipated since elections for the board this past fall ensured he would have the eight-vote supermajority needed to become the next head of the state Department of Education."  Many board members spoke highly of White, noting his work in that state's Recovery School District, especially "his ability to bring disparate groups together and his track record around the country."
