|Finale from the Festival of Lessons and Carols
Throughout the academic year there are many possibilities for our students to present dances. Those include Lessons and Carols Christmas Festival in the Washington National Cathedral, STA/NCS music and drama productions, school athletic events, services at the Cathedral, Flower Mart, our own Dance Gala Concert, and the Washington Area Independent School Dance Education Association (WAISDEA) Dance Festival.
In the past several years our dancers have been recognized with prestigious awards at the WAISDEA Festival.
Annual Dance Gala:
Our main dance production is held in the Spring and includes performances by our student groups, Cathedral Dancers and Dance Team, and by individual students, often dancing in pairs. Students audition for a spot to dance in the Gala and rehearse, usually two nights per week, to learn new dances. The Gala aims to expose student dancers to diverse genres and styles, such as:
Heritage Dance Series
Classic Broadway Collection
World Dance Residency
Guest Choreographers Cycle
Dance Faculty Repertory
