Camp DescriptionThe primary goals of the St. Albans swim camp is to develop the four swimming strokes –butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle - including comprehensive work on all starts involved with each stroke, turns, as well as finishes. Stroke technique will be emphasized through the use of instructional DVDs, classroom lectures, and in-water practice sessions. Coaches will also focus on interval training, goal setting and proper nutrition. This camp is not limited to the competitive swimmer, but is also geared towards the beginner and novice swimmer wishing to improve their stroke technique and overall fitness. Campers will be grouped according to age and ability as well as previous swimming experience.

Pick Up and Drop OffCampers should be dropped off and picked up for both the morning and afternoon sessions on Pilgrim Road which is adjacent to the tennis courts. Swim Camp counselors will escort campers to and from the tennis courts. Please access Pilgrim Road near the intersection of Wisconsin & Massachusetts Ave. which is the main entrance of St. Albans School. Pilgrim Road is one-way; therefore, please do not enter
LunchAll-Day campers must bring their own lunch from home. Swim Camp will eat their lunch in the spectator gallery area of the Lawrence Pool. Morning (AM) swim campers going to academic classes, other sports activities, or to dismissal on Pilgrim Road near the tennis courts will be escorted to their destinations by the Swim Camp staff . Half-Day (PM) swim campers will be picked up and dismissed on Pilgrim Road by the Swim Camp counselors.

Inclement Weather PolicySwim Camp will not be cancelled because of weather. However, drop off and pick up procedures will require that campers be escorted by their parents or guardians to and from the Lawrence Pool in case of rain. Counselors will not be available to escort campers during rainy weather.
Meet Our DirectorThe St. Albans swim camp is directed by full-time aquatics specialist and Director of Aquatics, Robert J. Green, who is into his 30th year at St. Albans. Coach Green is also the head swim coach of St. Albans and National Cathedral middle school and varsity swim teams. In addition to his St. Albans duties, Coach Green is also the head swim coach of the Prince- Mont Swim League – ‘A’ Division 2007 and 2009 Champion, Takoma Park swim team, and an age group coach with the Capitol Sea Devils swim team. Coach Green is also an American Red Cross certified lifeguard training, safety training for swim coaches, and CPR/AED/First Aid instructor. He is also a registered coach member of the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, American Swim Coaches Association, and USA Swimming.
