Camp DescriptionThe St. Albans rowing camp offers interested athletes a chance to explore the world of competitive crew. Campers will learn about the basics of the equipment, safety rules and get a chance to row on the Potomac River in St. Albans racing shells. The camp is designed so that students learn the fundamentals of the sport and then get a chance to do some informal racing.
Weekly CostAll Day: $350; Half Day: $225
FacilitiesAll rowing campers should report to the St. Albans Tennis Club located at 35th and Garfield Streets, NW. Campers will be then transported to the Thompson Boat Center located at 2900 Virginia Avenue, N.W.
Pick Up and Drop OffCampers should report to the tennis courts at 9:00 for the morning (AM) session and 1:00 for the afternoon (PM) session. Pick up will take place at the tennis courts at noon for morning session campers, and 3:30 for all-day and afternoon campers.
LunchAll-day campers must bring their own lunch. They will be escorted by counselors and coaches to the Activities building for the lunch period. Morning (AM) rowing campers going to another sports camp will be escorted to their afternoon activity to have lunch. Morning (AM) rowing campers attending academic classes will have lunch with rowing camp and will then be taken to their class. Half-day campers attending rowing camp only in the afternoon (PM) should report at 1:00 pm to the tennis courts located at 35th and Garfield Streets, NW.

Inclement Weather PolicyRowing camp will not be cancelled, regardless of weather! In case of rain or extreme heat, camp will be moved indoors where students will have the opportunity to watch sports-related videos and perform indoor activities. There are indoor rowing machines at Thompson Boat Center.
Meet our DirectorTed Haley just finished his sixteenth season as the head coach of the St. Albans crew. Coach Haley has been named as the Washington Post All-Metropolitan Coach of the Year in 1997 and 2007. He is a Level III certified coach through USRowing. The St. Albans crews are consistently at the top of the Washington, DC rowing scene, and oft en competitive at the national level. Haley graduated from Georgetown University in 1990. He was captain of the Lightweight team, and Most Valuable Oarsman in 1989.
