St. Albans School is an independent school located on the grounds of the National Cathedral in the upper Northwest section of Washington, DC. The school welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, and is dedicated to fostering the spiritual, intellectual, and physical development of its students. A boys’ school during the year, St. Albans welcomes both boys and girls to its Summer Programs. Our programs are well established; 2010 will be our 42nd year of making summer special for children.
We offer a number of camps and classes designed for children of various ages and interests and fostering both intellectual and physical development. Our diverse curriculum consists of core academic classes, as well as specialty courses in such fields as technology and study skills. On the athletic front, St. Albans has once again partnered with Headfirst, a provider of sports instruction and other recreational activities, and Power Through Sports Basketball to offer an impressive variety of camps to students. We also offer before and after care, as well as a daily “cool down” in the St. Albans indoor pool for full-day campers.
Our goal is to make the summer program experience rewarding, exciting, stimulating, and fun for everyone. To make the registration process as easy as possible, we have made online registration an option again this year (www.stalbansschool.org/summer). Of course, our staff is available to help answer any questions you may have. We look forward to a fun and exciting summer!
Sincerely,
Karim Najdi

Academics ClassesSt. Albans School has carried on a proud tradition of excellence in education since 1909. Our Summer School has an equally proud tradition of providing excellent summer courses to students from all over the Washington area. This year we continue to offer the curriculum for which we are well known, giving students an ideal opportunity to improve their ability to read, write, and think analytically. While some students use our summer courses to review past work, others use them to prepare for the future. In either case, they benefit from small classes, dedicated teachers, first-rate facilities, and a supportive environment. Whether you’re building a foundation or moving ahead, St. Albans is the perfect place for a productive summer learning experience.
St. Albans Summer School offers classes in math, reading, and writing for elementary age students. Half-day sessions covering a broad range of skills are available, in addition to one-hour sessions focusing on math or Spanish. We offer middle and upper school students all levels of English, math, science, and foreign language, as well as SAT and ACT preparation, and study skills. The majority of these sessions are two hours in length, allowing teachers to cover substantial blocks of new material daily. Classroom presentations are reinforced by additional assignments completed as homework.
While some students take our summer courses for the purpose of enrichment, others do so in order to receive academic credit from their own school. In such cases, St. Albans will provide full documentation of summer work in the form of grade reports and course syllabi. The final determination of course credit is always left to the policies of the student’s own school.
