The Bulldog Wrestling Tournament
The Bulldog Wrestling Tournament traces its origins back to 1953, when coach Al Wagner started the Washington Metropolitan Tournament. St. Albans captured the championship in 1953 and 1954, and the Bulldogs continued to compete over the next decade winning Best Wrestler awards and individual championships.
In 1963, St. Albans withdrew from the Washington Metropolitan Tournament and formed a new wrestling league within the IAC, the Independent Schools Tournament, since renamed the Bulldog Wrestling Tournament. Its first year, St. Albans placed second, after an undefeated season in the IAC.
