2016 Leap Year Challenge

Mission Accomplished: Thank You!

Well done, all! 474 Bulldogs—alumni, parents, parents of alumni, faculty, staff, grandparents, and many other friends of the School—made the leap for St. Albans Annual Giving in February, surpassing our 290 donor goal and securing the $29,000 challenge pool.

Such remarkable generosity underscores the incredible things our community can accomplish when we rally together. As ever, Annual Giving is a team endeavor, and these challenge results show that our team is stronger than ever. On behalf of all who will benefit from the outpouring of Leap Year support, most especially our teachers and learners, thank you! Symbolically and financially, your support is essential to sustaining the distinctive education offered by St. Albans.

The effect of volunteer enthusiasm on our final result cannot be overstated. We are deeply grateful to all who participated by giving, by urging others to give, and by cheering this extraordinary effort as it unfolded. We are especially appreciative for the leadership of our Governing Board challenger, whose generous $29,000 incentive was key to sealing our success.

An Extra Day, An Extra Way

In just 29 days, STA achieved what often takes others much longer. A few statistical highlights:
  • 29 Days + 474 Donors = $287,392
    • 474 total donors
    • $258,392 in total gifts
    • $29,000 in challenge dollars earned
  • 8% of alumni (319 donors) made a gift
  • 19% of current parents (102) contributed
  • $545 average gift
  • 99 donors who hadn’t participated last year (2014-2015)

29 Days, $29,000 Reasons

Thanks to you, St. Albans remains a school of opportunity for all qualified students. Annual Giving is critical for maintaining the budget needed to support the School’s robust financial aid program, which provides scholarship aid to 1 in 4 students, with an average award is $29,000. By successfully earning the Leap Year Challenge’s $29,000 incentive, February donors helped put an extra point of exclamation on the essential role that AG plays in the life of the School.

It's Never Too Late!

AG supports excellence at the School 365 (or sometimes 366) days a year! With our leap year success, AG’s 2015-16 goals are within sight, but we’re not there yet! As always, achieving our ambitious target by June 30, 2016 will require the support of all alumni, parents, and friends. However, if February is any indication, our community will rally to ensure we get there. Please consider doing your part today and make your gift by visiting www.stalbansschool.org/onlinegiving.
